Timberwolves Takeaways: Halloween trick-or-treat edition

Jimmy Butler: Trick or treat?
Treat. And not just fun-sized candy. We’re talking king-sized candy bars, caramel-covered popcorn balls, and 12-ounce cans of soda.
Jimmy Butler is the real deal. On a Timberwolves roster loaded with young talent, Jimmy Butler stands out as a bona fide all-star. Through seven games, Jimmy Butler has been a clear difference-maker on both ends of the court.
Last week, an upper-respiratory infection showed Timberwolves fans just how much we need Jimmy Buckets to win games. Bear with me as I re-hash the four-game stretch from October 22nd to October 27th. With Jimmy Butler on the court, the Wolves beat the Thunder twice. Without Butler, they were blown out by the Pacers and the Pistons. As fellow Dunking with Wolves contributor Adam Ziobrowski phrased it, that difference is the ‘Jimmy Butler effect‘ in action.
Back in September, Jimmy Butler spoke candidly about his aspirations in the NBA in an interview with Michael Pina at Vice Sports, stating:
"“Some people are OK with getting drafted. Some people are OK with playing two years in the league, four years in the league, six years in the league. Some people are OK with just scoring a basket in an NBA game. I’m not OK with any of that. I’m not satisfied until I win a championship.”"

Jimmy Butler is bringing a gritty style of leadership to Minnesota that we haven’t seen in a long time. As far as I can remember, the last Wolves player to want a championship this badly was Kevin Garnett himself. With Jimmy Butler at the helm in Minnesota, it looks like anything is possible.
