8. Gorgui Dieng (8)

Season stats: 15.4 MPG – 6.8 PPG – 5.0 RPG – 0.2 BPG – 50% FG – 25% 3PT – 76.9% FT

Weekly stats: 18.2 MPG – 9.0 PPG – 6.8 RPG – 0.3 BPG – 50% FG – 25% 3PT – 78.9% FT

Three weeks in a row sitting in eighth place in the power rankings is not indicative of Gorgui Dieng’s progression this season.

He has looked more and more comfortable every game with the second unit, one that looks more dangerous by the day.

Dieng was big for the Timberwolves in the game against the Pelicans. With Karl-Anthony Towns playing possibly his worst ever game, Dieng stepped up, providing 12 points and 8 rebounds on 50 percent shooting.

Dieng kept his impressive run going to help the Wolves win their fifth straight, dropping 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against in just 19 minutes against the Charlotte Hornets.

With Gorgui Dieng becoming a crucial clog in this Timberwolves bench, it is a brilliant sign that he is still sitting in his – now comfortable – eighth spot. And with the fire that has been coming from the remaining bench members, Dieng will have to do something special to work his way out of it.
