1. Jordan Clarkson – Guard/Los Angeles Lakers

One of the most underrated point guards in the league has been constantly available via trade for over a year now. His name is Jordan Clarkson and he happens to play in Los Angeles.

This is a classic move for the Los Angeles Lakers these days. Draft a decent player. He out-performs expectations. They look to get rid of him in favor of possibly luring a big name via free agency the following season.

It hasn’t worked.

However, the Timberwolves could benefit from this questionable front office playbook. Clarkson is no stranger to trade rumors in the same way that Ricky Rubio knew the writing was on the wall for a few years leading up to his departure.

Why not make a big trade here which could add another legitimate sixth man talent to our bench?

Clarkson has been operating off of the bench for a while now behind the likes of D’angelo Russell and Lonzo Ball too much success. In fact, last season he averaged 14.7 points off the bench for a Lakers team in desperate need of playmaking.

The reason I am intrigued with Clarkson is that he is locked up to a modest contract for a player with his upside offensively, and he could likely be had for very cheap. You know how I said Seth Curry could most likely be acquired for Aldrich and Muhammad, well the same thing could be said here.

The Lakers think for some reason that getting rid of quality players like Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr, and Clarkson will improve their odds of landing Lebron James. Let them believe their own crazy theories. We can take advantage of this situation and add a guy who could help us off of the bench with a high upside.

It’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, the Timberwolves decide to do via trade over the course of the season.
