Minnesota Timberwolves: 5 numbers that show their improvement
The Minnesota Timberwolves are off to a great start in the 2017-18 season and here are five numbers that explain why they’re better than last year.
The Minnesota Timberwolves first 14 games have been one hell of a roller coaster. They’ve beaten some of the top teams in the NBA such as the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder (twice, mind you) and the Dallas Mavericks. Okay, so I’m joking about the last one, but nonetheless, the wins have been impressive.
Then, unfortunately, there are the losses. Losses so bad even your grandma, who knows nothing about basketball, understands they shouldn’t have happened. I’m talking taking a double-digit “L” to the Indiana Pacers at the Target Center and losing to the freezing Phoenix Suns. Yuck.
Regardless, Minnesota is on track to win 50 games this season and has a great shot at winning their division as the Thunder have struggled to mesh early.

Without diving too deep, it’s obvious newcomers such as Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson and Jeff Teague has helped steer away from a losing culture. They’ve instilled winning habits into Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns that will, hopefully, catch on and last them a career.
At the very minimum, they’ve demonstrated how to take care of business on both sides of the court (not talking to you Jeff Teague).
By diving deeper, however, we will really understand the change that has already taken place this early in the season. This isn’t your dad’s Timberwolves, as they are finding new ways to win every night. Let’s take a look at exactly how they’ve racked up nine victories in their first 14 contests.
