Early grades for the Minnesota Timberwolves offseason moves
By Sam Peterson
Summary
Not graded in this list is drafting Justin Patton, the contract extension for Andrew Wiggins, and the re-signing of Shabazz Muhammad.
Locking up Wigs for the next five years is big for the team. The Wolves know what they have with Bazz, he is a streaky scorer that won’t hesitate to get his shots in when he enters the game. Minnesota also went out and signed Aaron Brooks, Anthony Brown, and Marcus Georges-Hunt to fill out the bench, and each of these players have only seen time in garbage time.
Minnesota had one of the most eventful offseasons in the NBA. They have made an effort to bring in some veterans with extensive playoff experience to help the Wolves break the longest playoff drought in the NBA. Minnesota had no problem on the offensive end of the court last season, ranking ninth in offensive efficiency. However, the players the Wolves have added should help Minnesota improve from being 27th in the NBA in defensive efficiency last season.
The last time that the Wolves were in the playoffs, MySpace was still all the rage. In an effort to become relevant in the NBA once again, Thibs and the Wolves made waves this offseason. Only time will tell if it will result in more success for the team, but in the early days of the season, the additions have seemed to have a very positive impact on the quality of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
