5. Nickeil Alexander Walker

Nickeil Alexander-Walker is a freshman guard at the University of Virginia by way of Toronto, Canada.

At 6-foot-5 he can maintain a high level of play whether he has the ball in his hands or not. When he’s initiating the offense his ability to see over defenses is a key aspect of his game, as it allows him to display his unselfishness and passing ability. He has an extremely high basketball IQ which also allows him to see one pass ahead and keep his teammates involved.

Although he struggles to finish through contact, boy can he score from the outside. Through four games this season, he’s shooting 45.8 percent from downtown on 6.0 attempts per game. He’s also dropped 20 points or more in three of those four contests.

Although it has come against lesser opposition, he’s already showing off his good range. If he can continue to build muscle expect him to rise up the draft boards as the season goes on.

For now, however, he would be a great compliment in the backcourt for the Timberwolves. His size would allow him to come off the bench and play alongside either Tyus Jones or Jamal Crawford. His ability to space the floor would be a welcome addition to a team that lacks consistent outside shooters.
