Minnesota Timberwolves: 5 players they might take in 2018 NBA Draft
2. De’Anthony Melton
The 6-foot-4 combo guard out of the University of Southern California might be entering the NBA at the perfect time.
The NBA is currently in love with do-it-all players that can spread the wealth on both sides of the floor. Melton seems to fit that mold perfectly as he averaged 4.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.0 blocks. and 1.9 steals last season to go along with his 8.3 points per game.
This diverse game is also what will attract the Timberwolves to him.
Not unlike a few other players on this list, he could fit into multiple spots on this Timberwolves roster. He can also fill a number of different holes and help the team where ever it needs it on any particular night. This is a very valuable asset especially considering Minnesota isn’t short on scoring talent.
Unfortunately for Melton, his career at USC is under the process of being tarnished, as he has yet to play in a game this season due to allegations that a family member and/or close friend encouraged the sophomore guard to attend the University. We’ll see how this plays out in the legal process, but one thing is clear, Melton can ball.
