With breakout seasons of Joel Embiid and Kristaps Porzingis ongoing, Karl-Anthony Towns has been left out in the cold.

According to what seems like most people in the media, Towns seems to be somewhere in that second tier of big men behind Embiid, Porzingis, Anthony Davis, and DeMarcus Cousins.

KAT has been the best player on the team for most of the season, according to Dunking With Wolves’ own Jake Paynting’s weekly power rankings. And being the best player on a 11-7 Minnesota Timberwolves team that is tied for third in the brutal Western Conference makes him a very underrated big man.

His ability to finish at the rim is something that should not be in question. According to NBA.com/stats, KAT shoots an effective field goal percentage of 72.7 when putting it up from inside 10 feet.

While Towns has amazing back to the basket moves, he is most effective (as most players are) right at the rim. Unlike many players, he has an awesome highlight reel of posterizing slams in addition to his post moves and outside shooting ability.

He has dunked on both Eastern and Western Conference teams. Towns has jammed it on one of the most exciting young players in the NBA. He has thrown it down on former Timberwolves. KAT has even made a poster in a different country. And I’m only talking about the five included in this list.

With both Towns and Andrew Wiggins able to put anyone on a poster at any time, this team has the ability to be one of the most exciting teams in the league. While we have already dissected Wiggins’ top five dunks, Towns’ list should surely be comparable.

His first victim: Serge Ibaka.
