Honorable Mention:  Dave Chappelle recreates Charlie Murphy’s basketball encounter with Prince!

Prince was one of the few Minnesota stars loved more than Kevin Garnett and his passing will be mourned longer than most.

Besides being one of the greatest musicians of all time, Prince also played basketball at Washburn High School as reported by the Washington Post.

He was number three for the Millers and he had an awesome 1970’s Afro appropriate for the times.  I’d argue that Afros are timeless hairstyle always appropriate across the globe. He was the sixth or seventh player coming off the bench and thus the Jamal Crawford for Washburn High School Millers.

Prince’s true passion was music and he went on to produce unforgettable songs like Controversy, Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, 1999, Raspberry Beret, Kiss and countless other hits. He collaborated and produced music for many other successful musicians throughout his career.

In addition, the famous Minnesotans Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis toured with Prince and collaborated with him over the years. Jimmy is also a basketball fan and  Kevin Garnett’s brother-in-law, the Minnesota’s greatest music and the game of basketball will be forever be matched.

Prince continued to make Minnesota his primary home long after becoming a star, which speaks to his own love for this place. His Purple Majesty never lost his love for the game of basketball and the famous Paisley Park studios had a court installed for his pleasure.

He was a Timberwolves and basketball fan and attended games throughout his shortened life.

Thus, it’s hard not to include Dave Chappelle’s True Hollywood Stories| as Charlie Murphy talks about his basketball encounter with the Artist Formerly Known as Prince as an honorable mention.

Rest In Peace Prince – you’ll never be forgotten and may your spirit guide the Twolves to victory!
