Jeff Teague may have been injured for the majority of this week, but he would have been hard-pressed to keep his fourth spot on the power rankings, with Taj Gibson catching fire on both ends of the floor this week.
Gibson is has always been elite on the defensive side, and this week – and season – have been no different for the Timberwolves. It was Gibson’s offensive brilliance this power rankings week that had fans stunned.
Gibson began the week with a 24-point, 9-rebound outing against Orlando, where he added 2 steals and a block too. Like most of the Timberwolves players, Gibson couldn’t get it going against Miami, but he bounced back with another gem of a game in the Phoenix win.
According to NBA stats box scores, Gibson drained 8 of his 12 shots en route to his 16 points, and hammered the Suns on the glass finishing with 7 offensive and 7 defensive boards. Providing the same superglue-type output that have made him a fan favourite just six weeks in to his Timberwolves career.
Taj Gibson dominated for the most part of this week, and his 69 percent True Shooting Percentage and +18 Net Rating for the week demonstrate all you need to know about Gibson’s hot week.
Let’s just hope Gibson can keep his career-season going.
