5 way-too-early free agents the Minnesota Timberwolves should look at
4. James Ennis (SF/PF – Unrestricted)
Season averages: 25.9 MPG – 7.1 PPG – 3.9 RPG – 1.3 APG – 50.5% FG – 30.6% 3PT – 90.3% FT
With the ‘Grit-n-Grind’ Grizzlies that NBA fans have come to know and love slowly but surely fading away in front of our eyes, James Ennis may be another pending free agent looking for a change of scenery.
Two seasons ago, Memphis signed Ennis to a two-year, $6 million deal, and with his game showing no signs of major improvement, Ennis doesn’t figure to get a huge pay rise this summer.
Ennis may not have improved much over the past few years, but as you can see from his outburst over the Spurs, that doesn’t mean he’s not an upcoming free agent that the Timberwolves would love to pry away in the summer.
He may be shooting a career-low percentage from 3, but Ennis has been a reliably league average shooter for his whole career, nailing 36.5 percent of his 326 career 3-point tries.
Combine that with his size, strength and ability to guard multiple positions, and James Ennis looks like a mouth-wateringly cheap option for Minnesota.
