Major key for Los Angeles: Stick with Rivers
With Chris Paul thriving in Houston and Blake Griffin and Danilo Gallinari sitting out with injuries it seemed that Jordan would be the danger man for the Timberwolves on Monday night.
Austin Rivers had other plans, however.
Jordan did have 17 points and 12 rebounds, but it was Rivers who stole the show with 30 points on 9-14 shooting, including matching a career high seven 3-pointers. Adding 5 rebounds and 5 assists to put the cherry on top of an already special performance from a man quickly stepping out of his father’s shadow for the depleted Clippers.
Over the past five outings, Austin Rivers has averaged 19.4 points and 5.2 rebounds while splashing in 41.9 percent of this long range tries.
With his run of form proving it wasn’t just the Minnesota Timberwolves who came down with Rivers fever last time out in Minnesota, the Wolves will have to be more vigilant this time around if they want to polish off the Clippers again.
