Wolves Power Rankings: Top of the Wolves tree gets a shake-up
9. Aaron Brooks (10)
Season stats: 4.8 MPG – 2.4 PPG – 0.5 RPG – 0.6 APG – 47.6% FG – 50% 3PT
Weekly stats: 7.7 PPG – 2.5 PPG – 1.0 RPG – 1.5 APG – 40% FG – 33.3% 3PT
Brooks might have moved up into the ninth spot in this week’s power rankings, after being unranked two weeks ago and 10th last week.
The move up this week however, comes as a result of Shabazz Muhammad not playing enough game time to qualify, rather than Brooks actually putting in valuable shifts on the court.
Brooks played just 15 minutes over the first two games of the week, before returning to his role as the hype-man at the end of the Timberwolves bench. Brooks didn’t do a whole lot to impress over those two games, shooting at a low percentage (40 percent) from the field, and struggling to do anything to keep Tyus Jones off the court.
Including his poor-for-even-Wolves-standard type defense.
For all his shortcomings and the joy that Wolves fans have to see him back on the end of the pine, Aaron Brooks did actually post a ridiculous 141.7 Offensive Rating in the big win over New Orleans.
Small sample size statistics are fun … probably a bit more fun than Aaron Brooks power rankings week. Which could be the last one he is featured in for a while, with Jeff Teague back and eating in to any potential Brooks minutes.
