8. Marcus Georges-Hunt (Unranked)

Timberwolves Head Coach Tom Thibodeau’s rotation has been like a bank vault this season, but Marcus Georges-Hunt has finally found a way to crack it open and step inside.

He explained the key to his recent step up to valuable minutes to Alex Kennedy from HoopsHype.

"“It’s almost like there’s no such thing as positions nowadays. That’s where being able to guard one-through-four or one-through five is so valuable to teams. If I can do that and knock down shots to space the floor, it only helps my teammates like Jimmy Butler and Andrew Wiggins because it gives them more room to operate one-on-one.” he said."

The self-belief is there, and this power rankings week MGH showed the entire Timberwolves Nation the impressive play that has finally caused Coach Thibs to expand his 8-man rotation.

Now that’s  a statement.

The mini-breakout game came – non-coincidentally – in the hammering of Sacramento, where the undrafted man went 2-3 from the floor, including a 3-point splash in his 17 minutes. Combined with the solid defensive effort Georges-Hunt is bringing, and you can begin to see some potential.

A power rankings debut, in a spot other than last too, is a great start to MGH’s career in a Timberwolves jersey, and there aren’t many easier players to root for this season than him.
