1. The record is still fantastic

Despite the losses that should really have been wins, there is no problems at all when you look at it purely from a record standpoint.

Coming in to the season, most every Wolves fans’ would have taken a 19-13 record, fourth in the Western Conference, after the first 32 games of this newly formed roster. Sitting behind the elite West teams in the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs was expected, and playoffs in general were the ultimate goal in the Twin Cities. Anything past that should have always been considered a bonus.

The Timberwolves are on track to win 48+ games this season, with two of their main core under 23 years of age. That is franchise progress personified after winning just 31 games last season, extending their playoff drought to 14 seasons.

Tom Thibodeau’s team were not expected to be anything more than what they are now record-wise. In fact, they may be slightly overachieving so far in that respect, and with a two game lead over the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference standings.

If the Timberwolves continue to progress on the path they’re on — as well as cleaning up the sloppy losses that have hampered them thus far — they will look sneaky good when scouring the NBA’s best.

So, try not to lose too much hair next time they drop a winnable game, the wins are coming at an expected rate.

Sometimes, it’s just more stressful than others…
