It was a typical power rankings week in the life of Jeff Teague, as he continued to show his best and worst throughout most Timberwolves games. With Andrew Wiggins struggles, however, Teague’s inconsistent week was still enough to keep him in the fourth place for the second straight week.
Teague was up-and-down this week with his scoring, especially from 3-point land where he had been in career-best form before the last couple of weeks.
The diminutive point guard has nailed just 14 of his 42 December long bombs (33.3%), after drilling 29-70 (41.4%) prior to the start of the silly season. This includes a frightening 1-10 this power rankings week.
Despite his shooting struggles from deep, Teague has certainly not struggled from anywhere inside that 3-point arc this week, turning everything he puts up into gold.
According to NBA Stats, the former Wake Forest University standout has connected on 83.3 percent of his shots in the Restricted Area (RA) and 75 percent of his attempts from the mid-range area over the last seven days, leading the Wolves in both categories for the week.
As well as dishing out 8 assists per game, like this pearl to Taj Gibson.
He is a polarising figure around the Minnesota Timberwolves fan base, and despite his tendency to over-dribble and pass down open shots, Teague has shown a heap of great qualities that have helped the Wolves to their impressive 21-13 record.
Fans who don’t already will have to learn to love, or at least put up with Teague.
Because he is helping the team win, and he is here to stay.
