3. Trey Burke

Even though Trey Burke never played a game for the Timberwolves, this is technically a reunion, as he was drafted by the team in 2013 before immediately being flipped for Gorgui Dieng and Shabazz Muhammad.

Right out of the gate, Burke made the Timberwolves look silly, posting averages of 12.8 points and 5.7 assists during his rookie year. He also earned himself a spot on the All-Rookie First Team that season. Unfortunately, in 2016-17 (just three seasons later), Burke only averaged 5 points and 1.8 assists and couldn’t land himself on an NBA team this offseason.

That explains why he’s currently in the G-League where he’s lighting it up like a madman. He’s nearly unstoppable down there, averaging 26.9 points, 5.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 49.6 percent from the field and 42.3 percent from the outside. Ouufta!

Burke is one of the only guys on this list who’s already proven he can hang at the NBA level. And that’s important. His adjustment period would be a lot quicker than most of these guys which is critical considering the tough schedule they face. He’ll also be desperate to prove his worth in the league again and might be willing to do so at risk of being cut when Teague returns.
