Minnesota Timberwolves: Mid-season report card
Tom Thibodeau (President of Basketball Operations): A-
Thibodeau the President of Basketball Operations deserves a lot of credit for the quick turnaround he’s had with this team.
The year before he took over, Minnesota finished the season with a 29-53 record and are now flirting with a 50-win pace just two seasons later.
While there’s no doubt he inherited a talented young core in Wiggins, Towns and LaVine, he’s added the necessary veterans around them to plug the holes and create a winning culture. Most of his success came this past summer when he hit home runs in acquiring Butler, Crawford and Gibson. He also added another quality piece in Teague.
He’s certainly had a few questionable decisions-signing Aldrich, all the money he doled out to Dieng, and leaving himself very short on the wings. But overall, he’s done more bad than good.
No matter what you want to say about this roster construction, they are playing winning basketball and are leading one of the deepest divisions in the NBA. At this time, he also has to be in the conversation for Executive of the Year.
