5 best individual Timberwolves performances of the first half
5. Karl-Anthony Towns vs. Oklahoma City Thunder (Oct. 27, 2017)
33 points, (12-24 FG, 1-4 3PT), 19 rebounds, 4 blocks
We begin our list with the seven-foot phenom that dons the Wolves colors every night, Karl-Anthony Towns, and his dominant performance over the ‘Big Three’ in Oklahoma City.
Towns was truly great in this matchup as the Timberwolves triumphed over the Thunder during the opening weeks of the season by a score of 119-116.
He was a nightmare for the Thunder defense as he constantly gained premium post position against Steven Adams and any other would-be defender he was switched onto, making the defense pay almost every time. The big man had the full offensive arsenal on display, however, as he was burying mid-range jumpers and destroying OKC in the pick-and-roll game.
It wasn’t just the offense that was clicking for Towns, though: his 19 rebounds were a then-season-high and his four blocks showed the defensive suaveness that has become a trend in Towns’ game. (Two of those blocks were on a streaking Russell Westbrook, which may be one of the harder feats to accomplish in the league.)
Oklahoma City was truly thunderstruck by the Big KAT on this night.
