5 best individual Timberwolves performances of the first half
1. Jimmy Butler vs. Denver (Dec. 27, 2017)
39 points (10-20 FG, 3-6 3PT), 5 assists, 4 rebounds
The winner of the best performance of the first half of the Timberwolves season goes to Jimmy Butler, who put on a scoring and crunch-time masterpiece in the 128-125 thriller in front of a rampant Target Center crowd just two days after Christmas.
Butler was hitting his usual shots and dishing his usual helpers throughout three quarters, but it was his fourth quarter and overtime explosion that saw this outing top our charts.
Throughout the fourth frame and the overtime period, Jimmy G. Buckets poured home 23 of his 39 points, including 12 of Minnesota’s final 14 points.
Like any great clutch-time stanza includes, the All-Star hammered the final nail into Denver’s coffin with a variety of huge isolation shots and successful trips to the line.
(Plus he told Jamal Murray that he “Can’t *expletive* with me” so yeah, it was an all-around Jimmy Butler kind of evening in Minnesota, and the best individual showing of the season so far.)
