The ever-consistent Tyus Jones was nothing but this power rankings stanza, providing the bench with a reliable spark now that Jeff Teague is back and healthy.
Despite the Timberwolves having one of their worst offensive nights of the season, the 21-year-old provided one of the lone spark plugs. Jones finished with 13 points and a steal, connecting on three of his five attempts from beyond the 3-point line.
The three triples mark just the second time for the year the reserve point guard has made more than two long-balls, a good sign for Jones who had shot just 20 percent from 3-point land in January coming in to this week.
Against Toronto Jones was very handy once again, he chipped in nine points, four rebounds and four assists in an impressive performance, which isn’t unusual for the Minnesota native. Always a talented playmaker, Jones has improved tremendously at scoring the basketball from both inside and outside the arc.
Jones wasn’t fantastic in the final game of the power rankings week, scoring just three points on 1-of-4 shooting and dishing three helpers. As we always note, however, Tyus Stones’ impact goes far beyond the box score.
Tyus Jones continues to be one of the most reliably-solid reserves in the league.
