7 reasons the Minnesota Timberwolves shouldn’t trade Jeff Teague
Many people are calling for Jeff Teague’s head after a poor showing this season. However, there are many compelling reasons why the Minnesota Timberwolves shouldn’t trade him.
In many ways, Jeff Teague has been marked for failure since signing what’s essentially a three-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves this summer.
He was brought in as a supposed upgrade over the enigmatic Ricky Rubio and immediately found a dark spot in the hearts of most Wolves’ fans. No matter what he would ever do, it wouldn’t be good enough for some.
Teague knew as well as anyone he would be hard-pressed to replace the love Rubio had earned in some fans’ hearts. He even said so himself:
"He was a fan favorite. I hear that every day."
Despite having to replace the Spaniard on the court and in the hearts, Teague possesses more than enough talent to make fans forget about their former point guard. He’s unquestionably a better scorer and overall playmaker and can play well on defense too (when engaged).

Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to meet even the lowest of expectations this season and some are calling for the removal of him from the starting lineup and the team altogether. While neither of those are ideal, the possibilities have to be floated as his poor play continues further into the season.
In a point guard heavy league, Minnesota needs Teague to step up and find himself more than ever especially as they are getting closer and closer to the playoffs that have eluded them for 13 straight seasons.
Despite his subpar play, here are seven reasons the Timberwolves shouldn’t trade Teague this season.
