7 reasons the Minnesota Timberwolves shouldn’t trade Jeff Teague
1. Aaron Brooks is worse than Jeff Teague
Duh.
In the nine games Aaron Brooks has seen meaningful playing time this season, he’s played like absolute crap. And I mean that in the most respectful way possible. I’m a big Brooks supporter and was happy when Minnesota signed him last fall, but he hasn’t contributed in very many positive ways this year.
Due to his diminutive stature (6-foot), Brooks best attributes come on offense where he’s a career 37 percent shooter from downtown. When he was at his best with Thibodeau in Chicago, he was a great spark plug off the bench sort of like what Jamal Crawford is now.
Unfortunately, he’s shooting 33.3 percent from downtown this season and has made very poor decisions on the offensive side of the court. Throw in that he can’t guard anyone at this point in his career and you want to keep him on the bench where he can help mentor.
If Teague were to be traded, that would likely mean more playing time for Brooks (unless, of course, they bring in another point guard via the trade or another method). And a point guard tandem of Jones and Brooks would spell the end of a meaningful playoff for the Timberwolves.
