Last week, Jeff Teague hit rock bottom. He finished eighth in the power rankings after a disastrous week and had the ‘Tyus Jones should start’ marauding mob in full-pitchfork effect. This week, however, Teague regained some momentum with a better string of games.
Game one was the kind of efficient point guard game that Wolves fans crave, he dropped 9 points on 4-7 shooting and dished out 8 assists on the night. This low field goal attempt- high assist rate kind of game will have many Timberwolves heads ecstatic.
The low shot attempt numbers continued in the Pelicans win, although this time Teague went just 2-7 for his 5 points, and handed out 6 assists. Minnesota was 23 points better than New Orleans when the 29-year-old was on the court, so he certainly didn’t hurt the Wolves with his quiet game.
He also dished out this dime to a barreling Taj Gibson:
Despite it being the worst game of the week for the team, the Cavaliers loss was the best outing in Jeff Teague’s power rankings stanza. The point guard went for 14 points and 15 rebounds, shooting a handy 6-12 (including 2-4 from the 3-point line) and only managing to turn the ball over one time.
The game marks the first time JT has reached 15 assists this season, with his previous high being 12 against the Charlotte Hornets on Nov. 5 last year.
Let’s hope this fantastic game to end the power rankings week propels Teague into a good stretch of games.
