You may have seen Karl-Anthony Towns in his Philadelphia Eagles gear taking photos on the sidelines of the Super Bowl, but the big man was doing some even better work on the court this power rankings week.
Despite a slight regression in his individual defense – and the team defense as a whole – KAT was at his absolute beastly best over the past three games, looking unstoppable as he enters his first All-Star tilt.
The 22-year-old started the week with a 24-point, 11-rebound, 3-assist showing against Milwaukee, going a crazy 10-13 from the field and 1-2 from the 3-point line. Towns backed that up with an easy 22 points and 16 rebounds against Anthony Davis and the Pelicans, nailing 8-16 from the field and a perfect 3-3 from long range.
This blistering hot 3-point shooting isn’t an outlier either, the big man has been a flamethrower from behind the arc for the entirety of 2018, going at a sizzling 48.4 percent clip in that 20 game stretch.
The long range fun didn’t end in the New Orleans match-up, however, as Towns exploded for 30 points on 10-12 shooting, including an amazing 6-6 from 3. The 6 straight triples took the All-Star to 10 straight over the week, a franchise record for 3’s made in a row.
There have been complaints around Timberwolves social circles that Karl-Anthony Towns doesn’t get used enough in the offense, and when he is as hot as he is right now, they may just be justified.
