1. Will Karl-Anthony Towns regain his defensive form?

Aftter an abysmal defensive start to the season where some were calling Towns the worst defensive player in the NBA, he had a solid month toward the end of December and into January where he showed us he can be a real force on D.

Unfortunately, he’s reverted back to his early season ways and continues to anchor one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA.

Towns is at his best defensively when he’s disciplined and patient. It’s when he wildly chases blocks and tries to make highlight plays that get him in trouble. And he’s doing that way too often.

This is especially important considering the lack of good perimeter defenders Minnesota has outisde of Butler. Even though Wiggins has made positive strides at that end of the floor, guys like Teague and Crawford routinely allow their man to get past them in hopes the big man can clean up their mess.

Next: Jamal Crawford is the problem, not the solution

If Towns ever regains the defensive tenacity and discipline he showed during that month stretch, the sky is the limit for the Timberwolves. That’s the biggest and most important question that needs to be answered as we close out the regular season.
