Minnesota Timberwolves: 10 burning questions
10. Can Marcus Georges-Hunt re-earn his way back into the rotation?
Marcus Georges-Hunt has appeared in 34 games for the Timberwolves this season, averaging 5.7 minutes, 1.3 points, 0.4 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.
However, his impact on the game is a lot deeper than any statistical measurement. He’s often thrown in at the end of quarters in order to guard the opposing teams best offensive player and prevent him from scoring a last-second basket.
Even when he’s not put in the game at the end of quarters, he’s still tasked with guarding offensive studs. Although his results have been up-and-down so far this season, he relishes in that role and looks forward to it on a nightly basis.
Unfortunately, he’s fallen out of the rotation over the last few games, reportedly due to an illness.
Even before his sickness, he wasn’t seeing very much playing time. Before the four-game did-not-play illness streak, Georges-Hunt hadn’t played more than six minutes in five consecutive games, including one did-not-play coaches decision.
He may provide very little offensively, but he sure makes his presence on defense known. If he can get back on the floor, hopefully, he can help the Timberwolves improve the defensive woes that have plagued them for most of the season.
