Minnesota Timberwolves: 10 burning questions
3. Can Jeff Teague Set up teammates AND score?
One of the biggest gripes about Jeff Teague this season has been his propensity to over-dribble the basketball and take way too many shots. Normally, these might not be a huge issue, but when it’s taking the ball away from guys like Wiggins, Towns or Butler people are going to have a problem with it.
So far this season, Teague’s field goal attempts are his lowest since his third year in the league, but that hasn’t affected many people’s opinions about him.
While I disagree Jones would be better in the long run if he was moved to the starting lineup and Teague was moved to the bench, I’m starting to see where people are coming from. The bench has a major issue with scoring the basketball, and Teague could unquestionably help fill that void.
However, the best version of Teague is going to be when he’s scoring the basketball AND setting up his teammates for buckets. He can get to the lane almost at will and this should be able to open up his teammates for easier opportunities. Now, it’s just trying to get him to do that without dribbling for 15 seconds first and that’s the tough part.
