4. Trevor Ariza

Trevor Ariza is a few years past his prime right now, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be an effective player. Especially in today’s NBA that values 3-and-D type wings.

If the Houston Rockets truly pursue LeBron James this offseason, that means they will have little money left over to re-sign some of their better players and likely means Ariza will be free to talk unless he takes a huge discount.

If he does hit the free agent market, that would mean great things for the Timberwolves who lack a plus-size wing off the bench. Even though Ariza is used to starting, he might be willing to come to Minnesota if he can get a guarantee of significant minutes from Tom Thibodeau.

He’s knocking down 38.3 percent of his threes this season which would be a huge upgrade from anyone currently on Minnesota’s bench (are you seeing a trend in outside shooting yet?).

Unless the Rockets win an NBA Championship this season, he likely won’t want to take a step backward in his pursuit of a ring so that might eliminate the Timberwolves from the mix. But if he is willing to consider the Timberwolves, they could sorely use him.
