Minnesota Timberwolves: 5 dream targets for 2018 free agency
3. Will Barton
If Caldwell-Pope was a bit too young and Ariza was a bit too old, then Will Barton is just perfect. At 27-years-old, he’s right in the middle of his athletic prime.
Barton signed for a steal of a deal three years ago when he agreed to a three-year, $10.6 million deal with the Denver Nuggets. Unquestionably, he will be looking to get paid this time around and hopefully the $8.5 million Minnesota can offer will be enough.,
Arguably, he’s having the best year of his career, averaging 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 36.2 percent from the field. Unfortunately, he’s another player who loves the ball in his hands which might cause issues with the Timberwolves already shot-heavy team.
However, if someone like Jamal Crawford chooses not to accept his player option for next year, Barton would make even more sense and would probably be a better fit than the former Sixth man of the Year.
Plus, what’s better than stealing a good player from a division rival?
