It hasn’t been the strongest season thus far for Gorgui Dieng, but this week he may have hit rock bottom. The Senegalese giant produced next to nothing this week in the scoring column and struggled to help the starting or reserve unit on the defensive end.
The power rankings week started out poorly in Chicago, although it may have been his strongest showing over the three game span. Dieng put up two points on 1-4 shooting, grabbing six rebounds and blocking two shots in his 15 minutes.
The big man failed to connect on a field goal in the home win over the Kings, missing all five of his attempts and grabbing just three boards in 12 minutes of game time. He had been money in the mid-range all season long, but they just don’t seem to be dropping lately, it may be time for Dieng to hit the post and crash the offensive boards to try and get some easier buckets.
The G-Train didn’t get rolling in the final outing of the week either, finishing again with a doughnut in the scoring column while grabbing five rebounds and two assists. It was a nightmare showing for Dieng, who also finished with three turnovers, four fouls and a ghastly 141.3 Defensive Rating on the night.
This one was certainly one to forget for the Timberwolves backup big man.
