Although he wasn’t at his sizzling best, Jamal Crawford was the only member of the Timberwolves bench who was able to provide consistent scoring this week, which is good enough to keep him comfortable in the power rankings sixth man position.
Despite some pretty bad plus minus numbers and some of the least steady defense in the league, the 37-year-old still provides value through his hot-and-cold scoring touch and his unbelievably good veteran leadership.
J-Crossover started the week off with eight points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3PT), two assists and two steals against the Bulls, he was shooting well from long range but struggled with his shot from inside the arc – making just one of his five 2-point attempts. Despite it being his lowest scoring output of the week, Crawford finished with a week-high +12 on the night.
The three-time Sixth Man Of The Year winner was up to his 3-point shooting tricks again in the win over Sacramento.
He had 12 points, hitting all three of his shots from deep and connecting on 3-of-3 from the free throw line after being fouled on a long bomb. Crawford has a penchant for late-game buckets, and he flashed that in this important victory:
J-Crossover tried to go back into vintage mode in the Houston game, and while he did score 11 points on the night, the 5-of-13 shooting (1-6 3P) was ugly, however. It didn’t help that most of his bench teammates were pretty atrocious throughout the evening.
Jamal Crawford has hit love/hate moments, but with the bench as a whole struggling to score, he remains a vital piece to the Timberwolves puzzle.
