#5 – Tyus Jones

Grade: B

4.9 points, 45.9 field goal percentage, 35.6 3-point percentage, 1.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.0 blocks

Jones has been a major revelation this year, and it’s coming together as to why the Wolves weren’t more reluctant to give up their former first-round pick, Kris Dunn. Jones this season has excelled well when he has been given the chance that is; Coach Thibs has been a little hesitant to give his bench player’s some extra minutes.

Teague went down with an injury earlier in the season, leaving the Minnesota native a wide-open door. When given the opportunity, he excelled mightily. He’s averaging 8.8 points, five assists and 2.8 steals per game. Other than his steals, nothing is really off the charts. What’s even more impressive about his stats is his defensive rating. As a starter, he posted an incredible 93.3 defensive rating. This isn’t a few games or so, that is over the course of 10 games.

Jones has been impressive this season, but at times he has struggled to find his shot. But it’s hard to find a knock on his game because he has surprised us so much this season. He is averaging 35.6 percent from 3, but that number has continued to fall. During the month of February he was only able to hit on 30.3 percent of his attempts from behind the arc. He has improved this month and was able to get it up to 36.4 percent.

A lot of his attempts are wide open so you’d traditionally like to see him raise that percentage a little higher. It’s hard to find something wrong with Jones’ game this season because he has been very impressive thus far.
