#2 – Karl-Anthony Towns

Grade: A

20.2 points, 54.6 field goal percentage, 42.1 3-point percentage, 12.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.8 steals, 1.5 blocks

Towns is having himself a great season and because of that, he was rewarded to his first All-Star game this season. The only reason he doesn’t get an A+ is because of his poor defensive play in the beginning of the year, but we’ll get to that. His numbers have dropped significantly, like his teammate Wiggins, but again that was expected with all the new additions this season.

Towns continues to improve on the offensive side of things and one significant improvement has been his ability to knock down the ball from 3. Each year he’s improved his percentage, going from 34.1 percent all the way to 42.1 percent.

His offensive efficiency continues to improve, not only has his 3-point percentage improved, but his field goal percentage and free throw percentage. We all know of his ability to knock the ball down from deep or put the ball on the floor and take it to the rim, but what doesn’t get enough talk has been his defensive improvement.

Early in the season, Towns looked awful on defense. Many of times he just looked flat-out lost, allowing his man to just score on him with ease. However, as of late he has been improving immensely. This is just the first taste of the All-Star game for the 22-year-old, and there will be many more to come for this young man’s career moving forward. It’s scary what he’s able to do now and that he’s not even in his prime yet.
