Grading Minnesota Timberwolves players at the All-Star break
#11 – Aaron Brooks
Grade: F
2.0 points, 43.1 field goal percentage, 33.3 3-point percentage, 0.5 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.2 steals, 0.0 blocks
Aaron Brooks has played limited time as well, but when he has seen time … it’s been ugly. Mainly, we’ve seen him play when Jeff Teague has been down with an injury, including one game in which he was given the start over Tyus Jones.
Brooks has certainly been the guy to shoot a lot of questionable shots and play horrid defense. But, it’s not like you’re going to expect a lot of good play out of your third-string point guard. For the most part, it’s probably a good assumption that he’s on the roster because of his recent past with the Chicago Bulls.
Averaging only two points per game, he’s again one of those players that you’d wish could help out the team more. But, we can only wish for so much and I guess Minnesota fans can live with the idea of someone who doesn’t ever touch the court other than to celebrate, to score only that much.
Other than being able to shoot the ball from three, I can’t really say that Brooks helps out the team in many other areas. However, he has been fun to watch off the bench. There’s been numerous times of great/funny moments of Brooks just enjoying his time.
It would be ideal that Minnesota goes out and finds a back up point guard behind Jones, on the off chance that Teague goes down again. It doesn’t look imminent after reports claimed there’s no interest in Derrick Rose.
