The Minnesota Timberwolves play the San Antonio Spurs for the third time this season with zero room for mistakes.

The Timberwolves began the season with a disappointing loss to the Spurs. After losing every match-up during the 2016-17 season against the Spurs (0-4), this was a familiar feeling. Luckily, Karl-Anthony Towns‘ forty minute game of offensive insanity led to a Timberwolves twelve point win on November 15, 2017.

Up until that win, The Wolves had lost fourteen straight games against San Antonio, dating back to early 2014. Making the past fifteen match-ups – of Spurs and Timberwolves – a saddening record of: Fourteen Spurs wins to one Wolves win.

If the Timberwolves can come out with a win against the Spurs this Saturday night (03/17), they will have won their first set of consecutive games against San Antonio in over five years.

I repeat: Over five years.

The Spurs and the Timberwolves are on a two game winning streak, this may be the time for the Wolves to break some hearts. Since the Jimmy Butler injury, Karl-Anthony Towns and co. have really stepped up. Towns specifically, is on his way to becoming Western Conference Player of the Month for March.

Averaging: 26.0 points per game – 11.6 rebounds – 59% field goal % – 58.3% three-point %

Even though Towns’ offensive prowess is breathtaking, he is not our choice for key player of the game.
