8. Tyus Jones (7)

Weekly stats: 13.7 MPG – 3.0 PPG – 1.3 APG – 0.3 SPG – 33.3% FG – 50% 3PT – 50% FT

It has been a great season for Tyus Jones, who has truly earned the right as one of the more under appreciated bench players in the league.

However, Jones didn’t look that way this week.

Whether it’s just a slump, or the arrival of Derrick Rose – something has been slightly off with Jones’ game lately.

The 21-year-old started off the week nicely, dropping nine points and two assists on a sizzling 3-4 shooting against the Spurs, a game where he hit his only 3-point splash for the week (which has been a sore spot for him lately), but it went awry from there.

Jones failed to score in the loss to the Rockets, posting just one assist and two personal fouls in one of his worst games of the entire season. It’s rare to not see Jones chipping in with assists and steals, in fact, Tyus Stones is still the only qualified player who averages over one steal in under 18 minutes per game.

The point guard backed that up with another scoreless night against the Clippers, once again chiming in with an underwhelming one assist and one steal. Another forgettable night for Jones, who will be crucial in this final stretch of the season.

Whatever has caused this late season slump will need to be cured, a lot like Dieng. Especially with Tom Thibodeau’s – favorite Derrick Rose – bearing down on Tyus Jones and his minute totals.

Speaking of the infamous Derrick Rose.
