ORLANDO, FL – MAY 2: Tracy McGrady
ORLANDO, FL – MAY 2: Tracy McGrady /

Tracy McGrady lead the NBA in scoring without helping the Orlando Magic make the playoffs.

To preface this saddening take on Tracy McGrady, the only two leading scorers on the Orlando Magic to lead them to any playoff run since the year 2000 are – Dwight Howard and Tracy McGrady – two hall of fame players (pending Howard’s nomination).

Tracy McGrady became the second player in NBA history to be a leading scorer in the regular season who couldn’t help his team make the playoffs (Benard King, 1984-85). McGrady was the leader scorer in the NBA for the 2002-03 and 2003-04 season, only leading his team to the playoffs in the ’02-’03 season.

During the coveted ’03-’04 season, McGrady averaged 28.0 PPG and was picked as one of the guards on the All-NBA 2nd team, only behind Kobe Bryant and Jason Kidd in votes. Although McGrady disappointed when trying to help Orlando to the playoffs, he revitalized his career for the Magic, coming away with numerous accolades.

Don’t worry, we’re coming back to Tracy.
