Minnesota Timberwolves: Player matchups vs. the Rockets
The Minnesota Timberwolves will be squaring off against the Houston Rockets in the playoffs. Here’s an outlook at the player matchups we will be seeing over the next handful of games.
The drought is finally over!
After a long 14 years of not making the playoffs, the Minnesota Timberwolves clinched a spot after a win-or-go-home game against the Denver Nuggets.
The fans were crazy — Target Center was electric, it had a playoff feel and there was physicality on the floor that’s very similar to how a playoff game would be played. For the most part, everyone played their role well and helped end the long drought that has been looming over Minnesota’s head.
Now, the Timberwolves will be heading to Houston to kick off the opening round playoff series. While there were surely some conflicted about the result — the Wolves have struggled against the Rockets during the regular season, and missing the playoffs would have granted Minnesota two first-rounders in a deep draft class — 14 years is too long, and it’s time that fans stop worrying so much about picks and worry about winning.
During the regular season, the Wolves were 0-4 against the Rockets with a point differential of -63, and in a strange twist, they lost the first three games by exactly 18 points. The last game, however, is when Minnesota lost by just nine, but it wasn’t a pretty game by any means.
Here’s a look at each of the player matchups that we’ll be seeing in the playoffs.
