#2 – Game No. 82: Regular Season Finale win over Nuggets
In a battle for the final playoff seed, the Wolves and Denver Nuggets faced a do-or-die situation on April 11 at Target Center. Win and get in, lose and go home.
The Wolves got off to a solid start and led by a score of 62-54 at halftime. Ultimately, they managed to take a 86-81 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Nuggets tied it up and forced overtime.
But Jimmy Butler, in just his second game back following in-season knee surgery, played 42 minutes and scored 31 points as the Wolves won 112-106, clinching their first playoff spot since 2004.
Karl-Anthony Towns had 26 points and 14 rebounds in a team-high 47 minutes, and Andrew Wiggins had 18.
If we’re ranking the most meaningful wins of the season, this has to be No. 1. Securing the first playoff berth in 14 years is nothing to sneeze at for long-time Timberwolves fans.
