Chandler Hutchison is a 22-year-old prototypical small forward who has incredible intangibles. He is already 22 years of age so therefore it might drop his spots, possibly even out of the first round (insanely enough).
But after Hutchison worked out once with the Chicago Bulls, he cancelled all of his later combines for other franchises – meaning we may see this guy coming off the Bulls bench this fall.
Chicago already has the 7th pick in the draft and is projected to take a guy with a similar size to Hutch, but two wings that can play pretty well on both sides of the ball may be the best thing for the Bulls. After trading Jimmy Butler and acquiring three young assets (Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and Lauri Markkanen), the Bulls just want to add more potential to their already young roster.
Hutch averaged exactly 20 points per game, and even if Boise State’s competition wasn’t the ‘best’, it’s still a quietly impressive 20 points a game. Hutchison even showed signs of being able to be a playmaker in the full-court, which is surprising for a wing of his size – although it could do with his experience.
From this scouting video, it’s obvious that Hutchison has deceptive speed and can even play off the ball – if you play him to tight he’ll drive you to the basket and embarrass you near the basket. A lot like Zach LaVine, Hutch may overwork himself on the offensive end, which is something the Bulls may have to watch out for.
Overall, Hutch has an obvious comparison to a Jabari Parker type player, which would be more than a surprise for the Chicago Bulls.
