The Washington Wizards centers suck. I’ll say it again in case you missed it, the centers for Washington are really, really, really bad. Unfortunately for the Wizards, the centers out of the top five players are also not great.

The best big man available will be Robert Williams, who is still a stretch at the 15th pick, but its worth it. Williams almost averaged a double-double in college and close to 3 blocks a game – and for Texas A&M, those are great feats against good competition.

The problem for Williams is his lack of size, which many NBA scouts believe will hurt his production in the NBA. But if you’re the Wizards, any big man with some strength will help at this point, especially on a rookie contract.

There are signs of a brute David West in Williams and also a bit of Thaddeus Young – neither of those players are comps but Williams doesn’t have a clear comp in the league right now.

It’s not that Robert Williams doesn’t have the potential to be a good starting big man in the NBA, but as of right now, there are better options with the type of big men in 2018 basketball.

Bam Adebayo can probably be comped to Robert Williams – which is funny because this is where the Miami Heat took him in the 2017 draft. If Williams can continue to be a freak athlete above the rim, there will be a place for him to come off the bench for the Wizards and sell some tickets.

Disclaimer: If Robert Williams becomes Deandre Jordan, then this whole slide becomes void – hopefully forever.
