Trae Young is a 19-year-old averaging close to 30 points a game and is projected to be the 8th pick in the draft. I think we’ve all learned from the Stephen Curry mistake of the past, but maybe not?

In this case, I have the Atlanta Hawks not taking a chance on missing out from a future Steph. Although, I don’t agree with the Stephen Curry comp, I see Trae Young as a more Kemba Walker type player. Which I think all of Atlanta would be happy with, maybe not forgoing with a lot of the incredible big men in this draft.

Atlanta does have two really great young assets in Taurean Prince and John Collins, but they still need to fill that guard spot with a talented prospect. And with most of their guards being out of a contract next season, Trae Young makes a lot of sense here, unless they want to trade down.

Remember, we also had the Hawks taking Devonte’ Graham at the guard position as well, so there is some more depth for Atlanta.

If you’ve watched college basketball, you’ve seen highlights of this sharp shooter. But, what they don’t show is the talks of Young not being appreciated by his teammates and how he doesn’t trust him.

I’m not sure how true that all is, but I do know that every team that passes on Trae Young will be nervous sleeping until the end of next season – thinking they made the Steph mistake.
