Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 takeaways from win over Raptors

2. The players on the fringe of the roster played well
We came into Summer League looking forward to seeing Okogie and Bates-Diop, of course, but there are a host of guys with a real shot to make the team out of training camp, or perhaps end up with the Iowa Wolves of the G-League.
Amile Jefferson, who was with Iowa all of last season on a two-way deal, tallied his second double-double in as many games, putting up 15 points (6-11 FG, 3-4 FT) and 13 rebounds. Once again, it was largely due to hustle around the rim and playing solidly in the pick-and-roll.
After a quiet first game on Friday night, Jared Terrell and Jonathan Stark were awesome on Saturday afternoon.
Terrell, who was signed to a two-way deal immediately after the NBA Draft in June, scored 13 points (6-9 FG, 1-3 3P) in just 19 minutes and added two rebounds, two assists, and a steal. He looked smooth on offense, and showed awareness and toughness on defense as well.
Stark, who averaged 21.7 points per game and shot 41.1 percent on 3-point attempts over the past two years at Murray State, scored 16 points (7-10 FG, 1-3 3P, 1-2 FT) in 23 minutes and chipped in five assists. He was dynamic with the ball in his hands, converting a couple of tough floaters and layups in transition.
The Wolves may look to add another point guard with Aaron Brooks hitting restricted free agency and Derrick Rose expected to play more off the ball, and Stark could be an option. Terrell is a shooting guard, and will likely spend most of the season in Iowa.
Charles Cooke only showed up in the box score in 11 points on 2-of-7 shooting, but had a solid game and didn’t make any of the mistakes that marred his performance in last year’s Summer League.
