Minnesota Timberwolves Roundup: KAT crossover, Butler fulfills wishes
By Ben Beecken
As July rolls on, we have a couple of Minnesota Timberwolves-related videos that shouldn’t be missed. After all, it’s summer #content, is it not?
The end of July is a time for optimism — and that’s especially true for Minnesota Timberwolves fans.
Last week, we gave Dunking With Wolves readers a heads-up on Karl-Anthony Towns‘ camp that he was holding in Plymouth, Minnesota, as well as Jimmy Butler‘s upcoming “My Wish” Sportscenter appearance.
Both of those things happened later in the week, and we’re here to close the loop on them.
We’ll start with Towns, if only because it seems as though virtually every basketball fan has already seen this video.
Towns played YouTube star LostNUnbound in a game of one-on-one at the end of one of the days of his camp, and, well … this happened.
And, from another angle.
Good stuff. Not surprising or impressive, really, until you remind yourself that KAT is a legit 7-footer and even having handles like that against an orange traffic cone would be impressive. And LNU is surely better than a cone at basketball … right?
In other real and heartfelt news, Jimmy Butler spent a day with a teenager that had recovered from a chest tumor only to have one discovered on his brain. Sixteen-year-old Ethan Whitney lives in Wisconsin and has been a huge Butler fan for a long time, and Jimmy surprised him with a flight to L.A. to play hoops, dominoes, and Airsoft.
Butler’s a good dude, and has a track record of doing cool things like this. Fans may remember the charity event that Butler attended on crutches the day after tearing his meniscus in Houston. Some players surely would have canceled an event less than 24 hours after a season and potentially career-altering injury, but not Jimmy G. Buckets.
As the summer rolls on, we’ll take a few stabs as potential trades the Timberwolves could look at making to free up cap space and improve the roster. Outside of Towns, any player should be on the table, and with virtually no room to add free agents at anything but the minimum, the Wolves are surely looking at creative ways to find money.
