We’re still easing our way out of the month of August. In case you weren’t sure about that, Minnesota Timberwolves Twitter is here to remind you.

August is the dog days of summer for everyone, and that includes the NBA offseason.

There was a solid trickle of news related to the Minnesota Timberwolves this week, however, and Twitter spent the final days of the month in typical offseason fashion.

This week included a Minnesota State Fair visit from Timberwolves head coach and president of basketball operations Tom Thibodeau. He spent his interviews attempting to assuage the fears of Wolves fans that are worried about the team’s chemistry, and in turn, Jimmy Butler’s future in Minnesota.

Former Wolves star Tom Gugliotta was also at the State Fair, signing autographs and interacting with fans. We summarized the visits from Googs and Thibs here.

Also this week, the NBA 2k19 player and team ratings were leaked. Our own Trey Flynn dissected them here if you’re looking for an early peak.

In the middle of the week the Timberwolves announced the release of their “new” Classic uniforms, which will be a throwback to the popular black jerseys with the tree lining that were worn for most of the Kevin Garnett era.

We discussed the decision here at Dunking With Wolves and agreed with the seemingly overwhelmingly positive public consensus that this was an A-plus move by the Timberwolves. A throwback to the best era of Wolves basketball and the return of a black set of threads? Great move.

The Timberwolves website aggregated some of their favorite responses to the announcement and listed them on the site, so be sure to check that out when you have a chance.

Some other housekeeping items: we noted the venue announcement for the game to be played in Ames, Iowa earlier on Friday as well as the release of the G League Iowa Wolves’ regular season schedule.

Stay tuned as we inch ever closer to the start of training camp. Last year’s media day was held on Sept. 22, so expect things to kick off right around that time. Once again, training camp will be in California prior to the Wolves playing both in L.A. and in Oakland.

We’ll be back throughout the weekend with some fun turn-back-the-clock posts in honor of this week’s Classic jersey announcement.
