Minnesota Timberwolves: Jimmy Butler requests trade and we have 5 potential moves
By Trey Flynn
Well, here we are Timberwolves’ fans, stuck in between a feud with Jimmy Butler and the organization. At least, that’s what the sources have been telling us.
Jimmy Butler has informed the Minnesota Timberwolves he wants out, demanding the front office trade him immediately.
We didn’t want to have to make this, but there might not be any more options now that Butler has announced he wants out. I’ve created the ultimate guide to get Jimmy Butler out of Minnesota while keeping the Minnesota Timberwolves organization afloat.
As I’ve written in the past, the Timberwolves and Jimmy Butler met up yesterday to speak about Butler’s future with the organization, and the details just got released what was said.
But why is he requesting this trade?
Probably because Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, and Jimmy Butler don’t get along:
"Via, Yahoo Sports “There’s been a lot of uncertainty around Jimmy Butler all summer. He hasn’t been back to Minnesota. This is going to be a telltale week for him. Very much so, I’m told, this a last-ditch meeting for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Tom Thibodeau, and how they respond and how Jimmy responds to it will be interesting. Karl-Anthony Towns, who’s one of the top talents in the league, has yet to sign to sign his rookie max extension, which should be a no-brainer. And I’m told there won’t be any decision on that until this Jimmy Butler situation resolves itself.”"
I’m not writing this to cause any drama, but it’s purely out of necessity for Minnesota to continue thriving now that the Wolves are finally on a playoff streak of one year for the first time in over a decade. They cannot afford to fall back to mediocrity so soon after getting to the post-season.
The question that comes to mind: What will happen to Jimmy Butler?
If he is truly upset with the front office and their roster decisions, will head coach and president of basketball operations make a deal to let Butler go, now that he’s requested it?
If so, we have some teams in mind that would understandably call Thibs about this four time All-Star.
Before we begin these trade proposals, let me say that we don’t necessarily have any sources that confirm that these are destinations. Rather, we know that these are hotbeds for All-Stars who have great front offices.
All trades below have been confirmed by ESPN’s trade machine and contractually work out legally for all franchises involved.
Furthermore, Who’s first?
