Minnesota Timberwolves: Potential trade ideas for Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat
By Trey Flynn
This one just flat out makes more sense.
As I’ve stated before, Whiteside definitely doesn’t hurt the team’s scheme, it just adds another option to it.
But Josh Richardson is a 25-year old potential All-NBA Defensive honor type wing, he’s really on the cusp of becoming something great. If Miami is willing to let him go for a possible rental of Jimmy Butler, that is a must-deal for the Minnesota front office.
Richardson’s personality seems like it would mesh more with the likes of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, and whether you like it or not, Minnesota is contractually obliged to build around those two players and not Jimmy Butler.
The Miami Heat and Pat Riley would only do this if they for sure believed in Butler’s ability to win the Eastern Conference this season. Butler also has ex-teammate Dwyane Wade in Miami this year, so it could just be the right fit with the right attitude around him.
Time will tell, but just remember, nothing is set in stone, and even Woj told us a deal won’t happen until the early week. Which is still coming up sooner than you think!
Be ready, Wolves nation. Pay close attention.
