Training Camp Invitations

These Wolves didn’t have the biggest roles in the team last season, and thus will have to play their way into new contracts with their new teams.

First up is Marcus Georges-Hunt who averaged 1.4 points in 42 games for the Wolves during his second NBA season.

At one point, Georges-Hunt managed to crack Tom Thibodeau’s notoriously tight rotation, and there seemed promise that Thibs may have been considering making the young guard a stable part of the second unit. But eventually, Georges-Hunt found his way back to very little playing time.

Georges-Hunt failed to find a guaranteed contract, however, and is recently signed a training camp deal with the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are a genuine contender with a deep rotation, so it will be difficult for Georges-Hunt to crack it even if he can find his way into the team’s regular season roster. There’s a good chance Georges-Hunt spends at least the majority of the season in the G League if he can’t find a team in desperate need of depth.

The other former Wolf on a training camp deal is Anthony Brown, who played just one game in the NBA last season for the Wolves. Brown was the second of Minnesota’s two-way players and was voted an All-Star in the G League after an impressive season.

His one appearance for the Timberwolves lasted just four minutes, although he drain a 3-pointer in his only shot attempt.

Brown signed a two-way contract with Philadelphia for the upcoming season and will be fighting for a roster spot with the 76ers.
