Minnesota Timberwolves: Checking in on the ex-Wolves from last year
The Uncertains
Not all of the ex-Wolves from last year find themselves with an NBA contract of any sort. While they still may make their way into the league this season, this group currently has an uncertain season ahead of them.
Jamal Crawford was the Wolves’ sixth-man last season but has yet to find a new home. After opting out of his deal, many expected Crawford would soon find another contract — after all, he was still averaging over 10 points in his 18th season in the league as a bench player.
There does still seem to be interest in the guard, who himself was quoted as stating he has interested teams and is waiting to find the situation he fits best. It’s likely Crawford wants to find a place he can be used at a higher rate than he was in Minnesota, as he has frequently stated he expected more playing time when signing with the Wolves.
Next up is Cole Aldrich, who saw playing dwindling time last season before being waived during the offseason. Aldrich is an interesting case, as he actually signed a contract this offseason with the Atlanta Hawks before the Hawks requested waivers on him as their first cut of training camp.
It sounds like Aldrich may look to head overseas in an attempt to get on the court this season and continue his career.
Last up is Aaron Brooks, who saw playing time in 32 Wolves games last season, including one start. Brooks averaged 2.3 points for the Wolves, however any news on a possible next team for the veteran point guard has been completely quiet.
Brooks has spent a season in China before, so perhaps he may consider another stint overseas to continue his basketball career if he finds no interested suitors in the NBA.
